AS KeveltOur history goes back to a study of prostaglandins started at the beginning of the 1970s, led by academic Ülo Lille, in the Institute of Chemistry of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. This research led to production of various medicinal products in cooperation with the University of Tartu and research institutes of Budapest, Riga, Moscow and Ufa. Most of the scientists who were involved in the prostanoid-related research are still working in the same area today.
Based on the research, production of active ingredients and experimental pharmaceuticals started in the 1980s. The first product was a pharmaceutical for labour induction – Prostenoon. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 the Experimental Plant, where manufacturing took place, was closed.
In 2002 Nigulas Samel, Külliki Varvas and Ivar Järving, former students of Ülo Lille, received the Estonian National Science Award in chemistry and molecular biology for the research cycle ‘Prostaglandin Biosynthesis in Corals.
On 15.12.1991 AS KEVELT was established by the scientists of the Institute of Chemistry of the Estonian Academy of Sciences to continue the research and production of prostaglandins and its derivatives. In 1996 the State Agency of Medicines granted AS KEVELT a manufacturing license for medicinal products. In the same year, the first medicinal product was launched – Prostenoon-Geel 1mg for labour induction.
1998 – AS KEVELT started the sales of pharmaceuticals in foreign markets. The first product exported to Latvia and Lithuania, was Prostenoon-Geel 1mg.
2003– AS KEVELT received the Certificate of GMP Compliance of a manufacturer.
2004 – AS KEVELT started manufacturing biological pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the Latvian companies Vitesan and Latima.
2005 – AS KEVELT started its cooperation with the Competence Centre for Cancer Research (CCCR) for the development of new cancer pharmaceuticals.
2005 – AS KEVELT launched VITIX and VITIcolor, skin care products for patients suffering vitiligo. Partnership with Life Science Invenstments (LSI) was established.
2006 – AS KEVELT became the official distributor of a French company, Lysaskin Laboratoires, for marketing the LYSASKIN skin care range for atopic, itchy or scaly skin.
2007 – the selection of skincare products was expanded with the products of the British company Life Science Investment Limited developed for the treatment of scars, bedsores, and vascular and diabetic ulcers.
2007 – AS KEVELT started manufacturing sterile cryo-preservation solution and systems for the Origen company.
2011 – Russian medical company PJSC “Pharmsynthez” acquires the shares of AS KEVELT.
2011 – AS KEVELT is a founding member of the Estonian Chamber of Pharmaceutical Companies. The Chamber of Pharmaceutical Companies was established in order to unite Estonian companies manufacturing pharmaceuticals and introduce them to the general public.
2012 – A scholarship was established in cooperation with the Development Foundation of the Tallinn University of Technology. The first scholarship was awarded to a successful bachelor student of the Faculty of Science, Tarvi Teder.
2012 – Modernization of the analytical laboratory.
2014 – Skin care range distributed by AS KEVELT has grown to over 50 products. To further promote the products and establish contact with customers, Rosena online store was opened.
2014 – GMP certificate was renewed on the 8th of August.
2015 – AS KEVELT became ISO 9001:2008 certified.
2016 – AS KEVELT exited from the distribution of skin care products.
2017 – GMP certificate was renewed on the 26th of July.
2018 – AS KEVELT’s ISO 9001 certificate was renewed.
2019 – AS KEVELT’s ISO 9001 certificate was renewed in July.
2019 – AS KEVELT was certified with the GMP certificate of the Russian Federation on the 22th of July.
2021 – GMP certificate was renewed on the 31st of March.
2022 – AS KEVELT was certified with the GMP Certificate of the Eurasian Economic Union.
2024 – GMP certificate was renewed on the 31st of January.
